The initial produces were meek vests of grey for the local consumers. In the following thirty years, the industry remained local and generally unchanged. Then during 70s, this small, almost a cottage industry - began gaining momentum - to leapfrog beyond anybody's imagination some two decades later as the global market opened up with the changing market economy. Since then, Tirupur textile has never had to look back. Today, brands like C&A, Walmart, Switcher, Diesel, ARMY, Tommy Hilfiger - those that define dressing up, are some of its steady buyers.
