She will get an extra remuneration if she can pluck more than a specific weight. Both young and old ladies are involved in tea plucking. The Darjeeling tea industry has a work force of 45000 women tea pluckers who gets a wage of 1 usd a day. Most of the tea pluckers are from the tribal community. Makaibari produces the most expensive tea in the world. They produce the tea organically (without using any fertilizers or spraying pesticides)through permaculture.  Makaibari is situated at the misty foot hills of Darjeeling Himalayas - Arindam Mukherjee
